The combination of all-trans retinoic acid(ATRA)and arsenic-based therapy has markedly improved outcomes in acute promyelocytic leukemia(APL),driving a shift in APL management toward treatment simplification,reduced toxicity,and greater precision.This review focuses on the major therapeutic advances in APL in the era of ATRA plus arsenic-based therapy,with particular emphasis on optimization of front-line strategies,progress in the management of relapsed/refractory disease,and evolving molecular insights and therapeutic approaches in variant APL and APL-like leukemia.It also aims to provide a useful reference for clinical practice and future research.
