Golden Buckwheat(Fagopyrum dibotrys),a perennial herbaceous plant belonging to the genus Fagopyrum in the family Polygonaceae,is a characteristic plant species with medicinal,edible,and feed uses.It is rich in various natural bioactive compounds,including flavonoids and phenolics,which endow it with multiple functional properties such as antipyretic and detoxifying effects,abscess elimination and blood stasis removal,antioxidant activity,anti-inflammatory and antibacterial actions,immune regulation,as well as hepatoprotective and cholagogic effects.As a functional feed additive or an unconventional feed ingredient,F.dibotrys has demonstrated prominent application value in improving growth performance,product quality,and intestinal health of livestock and poultry.Moreover,it offers unique advantages in promoting crop-livestock integration and advancing antibiotic substitution and reduction strategies.This review elaborates on the dual medicinal and feed values of F.dibotrys,summarizes the latest research progress on its application in livestock and poultry production,analyzes existing challenges,and discusses future development directions,aiming to provide a reference for the scientific development and utilization of this plant in animal husbandry.
