Research on underwater attenuation and timing error characteristics of Loran-C timing signal

本文对罗兰 C 系统(Loran-C Navigation System,Loran-C)信号在水下传播过程中的强度衰减与授时误差变化规律开展研究.首先,从海水电磁特性出发,建立水下传播衰减模型,推导衰减常数和每米衰减量,分析场强随水深衰减规律.其次,从海水色散效应出发,推导包周差(envelope-to-cycle difference,ECD)随水深增长的拟合公式,引入附加二次相位因子(additional secondary phase factor,ASF)概念,建立授时误差随水深变化的综合模型,给出总误差表达式.然后,设计水下授时接收试验方案,在威海和上川岛两处海域开展实测.最后,提出基于 ASF 数据库的修正方法和工程应用建议.威海海域实测信号场强每米衰减量约为 9.98 dB/m,授时误差随水深线性增长,斜率约为 1.86 µs/m;上川岛海域授时误差斜率为 1.49 µs/m.通过建立水下 ASF 数据库修正后,预期可将 4 m 水深内的授时误差从 7~8 µs 降低至优于 1 µs.本文为 Loran-C 水下授时能力评估与应用部署提供理论依据和实测数据支撑.

This paper focuses on the intensity attenuation and timing error variation of Loran-C Navigation System(Loran-C)signals during underwater propagation.Firstly,based on the electromagnetic properties of seawater,an underwater propagation attenuation model is established,and the attenuation constant and attenuation per meter are derived,and the variation pattern of signal field strength with water depth is analyzed.Secondly,starting from the seawater dispersion effect,a theoretical formula of envelope-to-cycle difference(ECD)increasing with water depth is derived,the concept of additional secondary phase factor(ASF)is introduced,and a comprehensive timing error model is established.Finally,an underwater timing reception experiment scheme is designed,and field tests are carried out in Weihai and Shangchuan Island waters.The measured results show that the signal field strength attenuation in Weihai waters is about 9.98 dB/m,and the timing error increases linearly with water depth at a slope of about 1.86 µs/m,while the timing error slope in Shangchuan Island waters is 1.49 µs/m.By establishing an underwater ASF database,the timing error within 4 m water depth is expected to be reduced from 7-8 µs to better than 1 µs.This paper provides theoretical basis and measured data support for the evaluation and deployment of underwater timing capability of the Loran-C system.
