Sweating disease is characterized by abnormal sweating,with complex and diverse pathogeneses.Professor Jiang Deyou holds that sweating disease is caused by imbalance of yin and yang and deviation of qi and blood.Its pathogeneses include the following:disharmony between nutrient qi and defensive qi and yin-yang imbalance leading to excessive sweating;internal generation of damp-heat and unsmooth qi movement propelling the body to sweat;emotional disturbance and liver depression with internal heat driving blood and body fluids to be discharged abnormally;kidney's failure to store essence and yin essence leakage inducing deficient fire and excessive sweating;heart malnutrition and entanglement of static blood and heat causing heart fluids to be discharged abnormally.Therefore,its treatment should aim at restoring balance,with different pathogeneses treated in a different way.The specific methods include harmonizing defensive qi and nutrient qi to balance yin and yang,clearing heat and promoting diuresis to soothe qi movement and calm the internal organs,dispersing the liver and resolving depression to clear internal heat and regulate qi movement,nourishing yin and replenishing essence to diminish deficient heat,resolving blood stasis and clearing heat to nourish the heart and calm the mind.The goals of these approaches are to restore the balance of yin and yang,qi and blood,cold and heat,deficiency and excess,and the functions of internal organs.A case study is attached in this article for reference.
