Industrial chain modernization is a target requirement for building a modern industrial system and an important foundation for realizing Chinese modernization.This paper uses the panel data of 284 prefecture-level and above cities in China from 2013 to 2024 and employs the benchmark regression model,mediating effect model and panel threshold model to empirically test the impact effect and mechanism of artificial intelligence patent network on Chinese-style industrial chain modernization.The results show that artificial intelligence patent network can significantly promote Chinese-style industrial chain modernization,and this conclusion still holds after a series of robustness and endogeneity tests.The results of the mediating effect test show that artifi-cial intelligence patent network can promote Chinese-style industrial chain modernization by promoting the digital transformation of enterprises.The results of the threshold effect test show that the impact of artificial intelligence patent network on Chinese-style industrial chain modernization has an obvious threshold effect.Only after the artificial intelligence patent network index crosses the threshold value can the positive impact of artificial intelligence patent network on Chinese-style industrial chain moderniza-tion become apparent.The results of the heterogeneity analysis show that,compared with regions with lower economic activity and non-transportation-hub cities,the impact of artificial intelligence patent network on Chinese-style industrial chain modernization is more significant in regions with higher economic activity and transportation-hub cities.
