This paper summarizes Professor Li Xueping's clinical experience in treating atrial fibrillation(AF).The onset of AF is closely related to the dysfunction of the heart,kidney and spleen.Its core pathogenesis is deficiency of both Qi and Yin as well as stagnation of blood in the heart vessels.In the long course of the disease,pathological factors such as phlegm-dampness and cold congelation may be complicated.Clinically,the core treatment principle is to replenish Qi and nourish Yin,activate blood circulation and unblock collaterals.Professor Li modified Shengmai Powder from Qiyuan of Medicine(Yixue Qiyuan)to create self-formulated Wenchan decoction as the basic formula for treating AF.According to the patient's specific syndrome,the formula is adjusted based on syndrome differentiation on the basis of Wenchan decoction.Meanwhile,attention is paid to regulating emotions,diet and daily life to achieve both treating the root cause and relieving symptoms.This method significantly improves the clinical symptoms of AF patients and reduces the recurrence rate.
