Studies on Mu Dan have long focused on his relationship with western literature,while insufficient attention has been paid to his ties with classical Chinese literary tradition.In the special historical context,Mu Dan's comprehension of the poems and the poetic spirit of Du Fu and Tao Yuanming,his integration and applica-tion of classical imagery and the concept of"transformation"in traditional Chinese philosophy,as well as his por-trayal of the serene aesthetic realm and human warmth,jointly constitute the classical dimension of his late poetics.This internalization process is not only embodied in the spiritual exchange and poetic reflection in his letters,but also transformed into the modern reconstruction of classical images,the restraint and deepening of lyric methods and the return to Eastern philosophy of life in his late poetic writing.Mu Dan's late literary creation is not a simple return to tradition but rather a reconfirmation of the Chinese linguistic foundation and aesthetic reconstruction achieved through a dialogue between the modern experience and the classical spirit,thereby presenting a classical spirit with unique significance.
