The traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)traceability system serves as a core support and a key instrument for ensuring the quality and safety of TCM products and promoting the standardized development of the industry.Moreover,it is an important component of corporate integrity and brand building.Establishing a unified traceability data standard serves as a crucial foundation and a key support for addressing information fragmentation across the entire supply chain and achieving shared and interconnected traceability data.To support the construction of TCM traceability data platforms and achieve full-chain and full-variety traceability of TCM,the China Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine(CATCM)initiated the development of the group standard TCM Traceability Dataset in 2024,which was officially released in August 2025.The TCM Traceability Dataset(T/CATCM 037-2025)(hereinafter referred to as the"Dataset")focuses on the collection and management of traceability data throughout the entire TCM industrial chain.It specifies the classification,core contents,and representation methods of the dataset,thereby providing the industry with a unified language for traceability data.This paper describes the background for the development of the Dataset and provides a detailed interpretation of its main provisions,including the standard title and scope of application,terms and definitions,dataset classification,dataset description methods,and dataset contents.The aim is to help industry stakeholders accurately understand the essence of the standard,promote its implementation in TCM traceability practices,and facilitate the construction of a full-chain traceability system for TCM.
