As a disruptive innovation,artificial intelligence(AI)technology poses a comprehensive challenge to the current higher education system of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM).It is impacting the vision of talent,discipline system,learning mode,and the central role of human teachers as the primary instructional authority in current TCM higher education.The article analyzes the vision of talent,the expansion and innovation model of the disciplinary knowledge system,the learning models of medical students,and the role of human teachers in TCM higher education in the era of artificial intelligence.It then discusses the reform and development direction that TCM higher education must uphold in the era of artificial intelligence,and explores pathways of university transformation from the following perspectives:updating talent cultivation concepts,innovating teaching models,constructing"AI+"disciplines,enhancing teachers'ability to educate students,and shaping a smart education ecosystem.
