Jingjie(Schizonepeta tenuifolia Briq.)is a traditional medicinal herb in China with a dual-purpose for both medicine and food,boasting a long history and extensive application value.The volatile oil of Jingjie(Schizonepeta tenuifolia Briq.),also known as its essential oil,serves as the primary active component.It can be extracted through various methods,including steam distillation and microwave-assisted extraction,all of which yield an aromatic volatile oil.The main chemical constituents of this volatile oil include pulegone,menthone,and isomenthone,among others.It exhibits diverse pharmacological activities such as anti-inflammatory,antibacterial,antiviral,antidepressant,antitumor,and antioxidant effects,demonstrating broad application potential in fields such as food and agriculture.This paper reviews the extraction techniques,chemical composition,pharmacological actions,and current applications of Jingjie(Schizonepeta tenuifolia Briq.)volatile oil across different fields,aiming to provide a reference for subsequent research and development.
