China has become one of the countries with the heaviest global hypertension burden.Elderly hypertension has emerged as a chronic non-communicable disease that seriously threatens the health of elderly people in China,following cardiovascular and cere-brovascular diseases and tumors.Elderly hypertension not only significantly increases the risk of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular events,but also severely affects the quality of life and life expectancy of elderly patients,posing enormous challenges to the healthcare system.At present,China is still a developing country with significant disparities in economic development levels across regions,limit-ed medical insurance funds,and uneven allocation of resources in primary healthcare institutions.Consequently,the awareness rate,treatment rate,and control rate of hypertension in the elderly remain at relatively low levels.How to effectively improve the manage-ment level of elderly hypertension has become an important issue that urgently needs to be addressed in the field of chronic disease prevention and control in China.The article systematically analyzes the diagnostic criteria,control objectives,and hospitalization man-agement standards for elderly hypertension,explores the research progress of various management models,and provides reference for improving the management level of elderly hypertension in China.
