During the Central Soviet Area period,shock brigades,created under the leadership of the CPC and the government,were informal temporary organizations set up to address specific tasks,aiming to make up for the shortcomings of the regular governmental work mechanisms.At their ini-tial stage,relying on work methods that deeply engaged with the masses,they achieved remarkable results in areas such as military recruitment,production,and cadre supervision.However,as the Fifth Anti-Encirclement and Suppression Campaign progressed and the influence of the"Leftist"adventurism line deepened,excessively high mobilization indicators led to frequent dispatch of shock brigades by local authorities,resulting in a surge of tasks and chaotic management of these brigades.This not only undermined the normal functions of the government's permanent institutions,but also plunged grassroots mobilization into the dilemmas of formalism and coercive orders,intensifying con-tradictions between the Party and the masses.The development of shock brigades not only reflects the exploration of the CPC in creatively applying the mass line for social mobilization under extreme wartime conditions,but also exposes the inherent limitations of the"campaign-style governance"model.Examining this organizational form can help deepen our understanding of the early social mo-bilization mechanisms of the CPC.
