In order to express condolences to the old revolutionary bases,the Central People's Gov-ernment sent a large-scale visiting delegation to the old revolutionary bases at the turn of summer and autumn in 1951.The main tasks of the visiting delegation were to comfort the people in the old liberated areas,oversee the local government in providing preferential treatment to the families of martyrs and military personnel,to collect physical objects from the revolutionary period,to conduct interviews and site visits on revolutionary history,and to select representatives of the families of the martyrs and military personnel who went to Beijing to attend the ceremony.In August 1951,the Si-chuan-Shaanxi Border Branch,which was responsible for visiting the southern old revolutionary base area of the former Sichuan-Shaanxi Soviet Area,was officially established.During the visit,the delegation collected a large number of documents,historical relics,and conducted oral surveys of Soviet area history,effectively retrieving and constructing the collective memory of Soviet area his-tory.At the same time,a public memorial ceremony was held at the tomb of the Red Army martyrs to return to the"sites of memory"and realize the emotional expression of historical memory of the Soviet area,and dissemination of information about the domestic and international situation in the former Soviet area,encouragement of the families of the martyrs and military personnel in the old revolutionary base areas to continue to devote themselves to national construction,and its election of representatives to Beijing to attend the ceremony promoted the effective transformation of the people in the former Soviet area from building the collective memory of the Soviet area to consolidating their political confidence in the new regime.In addition,as carriers of collective memory,the historical documents and survey records of the Soviet area collected by the visiting delegation hold significant retrospective value for expanding the source base of historical research on the Soviet area.
