Objective To develop a scale for nursing educators to assess the professionalism behaviors of undergraduate nursing students,aiming to provide a scientific tool for evaluating students'nursing professionalism and examining the effectiveness of professionalism education in nursing.Methods Based on the conceptual framework of nursing professionalism,scale dimensions and an item pool were generated through literature review and qualitative interviews.A pilot version of the scale was developed through expert consultation and a pilot test.A total of 362 nursing educators were selected by convenience sampling to evaluate the reliability and validity of the scale.The results were compared with those of the Medical Students'Professionalism Assessment Scale.Results Exploratory factor analysis extracted three common factors,with a cumulative variance contribution rate of 61.71%.Confirmatory factor analysis showed χ2/df=1.923,RMSEA=0.072,IFI=0.923,GFI=0.925,NFI=0.868,CFI=0.930.The Cronbach's α coefficient for the total scale was 0.845,and for the three dimensions ranged from 0.720 to 0.763.The composite reliability ranged from 0.728 to 0.769,and the average variance extracted ranged from 0.362 to 0.472.The total scale score was moderately correlated with the Medical Students'Professionalism Assessment Scale(r=0.660,P<0.01),indicating satisfactory criterion validity.Conclusion The reliability and validity of the professionalism behavior observation scale for nursing students developed in this study are acceptable.However,further refinement is warranted to enhance the reliability and validity of measurements.
