Fangfeng(Saposhnikoviae Radix)is a quintessential"wind-dispelling"herb in traditional Chinese medicine(TCM),renowned as a"universal remedy for wind disorders."Its earliest documented use can be traced to the Divine Farmer's Materia Medica.In TCM theory,it is credited with the functions of dispelling wind,releasing the exterior,overcoming dampness,and relieving pain.Modern pharmacological research has revealed that Fangfeng(Saposhnikoviae Radix)possesses a wide range of biological activities,including antipyretic,analgesic,anti-inflammatory,anti-allergic,and immunomodulatory effects.In clinical practice,several classic herb pairs involving Fangfeng(Saposhnikoviae Radix)-Huangqi(Astragali Radix),Fangfeng(Saposhnikoviae Radix)-Jingjie(Schizonepetae Herba),Fangfeng(Saposhnikoviae Radix)-Baizhu(Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma),Fangfeng(Saposhnikoviae Radix)-Qianghuo(Notopterygii Rhizoma Et Radix),Fangfeng(Saposhnikoviae Radix)-Wumei(Mume Fructus),Fangfeng(Saposhnikoviae Radix)-Baishao(Paeoniae Radix Alba),Fangfeng(Saposhnikoviae Radix)-Gancao(Glycyrrhizae Radix Et Rhizoma),demonstrate significant synergistic and efficacy-enhancing effects.These combinations are widely used to treat various conditions,including common cold,rheumatic arthralgia,skin pruritus,rectal prolapse with diarrhea,as well as to regulate exterior deficiency and insecurity.This article aims to systematically review recent research progress on both the single herb Fangfeng(Saposhnikoviae Radix)and its commonly used clinical herb pairs,focusing on their pharmacological mechanisms and clinical applications.By summarizing the current state of research,it seeks to provide a scientific basis and innovative insights for the further development,modern application,and new drug research of Fangfeng(Saposhnikoviae Radix)and its core herbal combinations.
