化疗致周围神经病变患者参与运动体验与需求的质性研究OA

Objective To explore the lived experiences and support needs of patients with chemotherapy-induced periph-eral neuropathy(CIPN)during exercise participation,and to provide evidence for developing patient-centered exercise promo-tion programs for patients with CIPN.Methods A purposive sampling method was used to recruit 13 patients with CIPN from Hangzhou Cancer Hospital,between January and June 2024.A phenomenological qualitative approach was adopted.Face-to-face semi-structured interviews were conducted,and the interview data were analyzed using Colaizzi's seven-step method.Results Four themes and nine subthemes were identified.The four themes were as follows:uncertainty in percep-tions of exercise,including uncertainty regarding the effectiveness of exercise in improving CIPN and uncertainty about exer-cise type and dosage;dual physical and psychological benefits,including improvement in physical function and regulation of psychological and emotional states;multiple barriers during exercise implementation,including cancer treatment-related physical limitations,cancer treatment-related psychological and emotional barriers,and social and environmental contextual constraints;and diverse needs for exercise support,including needs for professional medical support,structured and socially supported exercise.Conclusion Patients with CIPN experience positive effects during exercise participation,including im-proved physical function and psychological adjustment.However,they also face insufficient exercise-related knowledge,symptom-related limitations,psychological concerns,and a lack of support resources.Healthcare professionals should provide early health education on CIPN and exercise interventions,strengthen provider patient communication and symptom screen-ing,deliver individualized and structured exercise guidance,and establish a multidimensional collaborative support system to promote safe,sustained,and effective exercise participation among patients with CIPN.
