Based on the theory of"yang transforming qi while yin constituting form"from the Huangdi's Internal Classic,Professor WANG Ping emphasizes the dominant role of Yang qi and considers the main pathogenesis of chronic hand and foot cracked eczema to be spleen-kidney yang deficiency,blood deficiency with wind-dryness,and failure of nourishment of the skin.The treatment is based on the principle of warming yang and moistening dryness.Guided by the theory of"internal dryness invasion should be treated with bitter-warm herbs,supplemented with sweet-pungent herbs,and discharged with bitter herbs",Professor WANG formulates prescriptions and selects herbs accordingly,creating a self-developed Wenyang Runzao Formula.Combined with external therapies such as herbal washing,this internal-external integrated treatment demonstrates significant clinical efficacy and provides insights for the traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)diagnosis and treatment of chronic hand and foot cracked eczema.
