Cardio-oncology is an emerging interdisciplinary field that primarily focuses on the occurrence,progression,and treatment of cardiovascular diseases in cancer patients.Advances in both basic and clinical oncology have steadily reduced cancer-related mortality,resulting in increased survival in cancer patients.As a result,cardiovascular disease has become the leading cause of death in this population.Therefore,understanding the underlying mechanisms of cardiovascular complications and identifying effective therapeutic targets have become a critical challenge in improving long-term health and quality of life in cancer survivors.The pathogen-esis of cancer-related heart disease is complex.Among the various potential mechanisms driving the development of cardiovascular dis-eases in cancer patients,tumor suppressor gene promoter hypermethylation plays a critical role.Studies have shown that the genomes of cancer patients commonly exhibit global hypomethylation and abnormal hypermethylation of tumor suppressor genes.A deeper under-standing of the role of DNA methylation in cancer patients may offer new perspectives and directions for the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular diseases in cancer patients.
