Luminance Non-Uniformity of Near-Eye Display LCDs and Its Impact on Human Visual Perception:An Experimental Study
本研究旨在探讨近眼显示设备中液晶显示屏的亮度非均匀性对人眼感知效果的影响.首先,依据信息显示测量标准(International Display Measurement Standords,IDMS),采用亮度非均匀性作为核心指标,对某研制单位同批次典型5.46 英寸近眼显示设备用液晶显示屏进行非均匀性测试.其次,基于单眼亮度非均匀性与双眼亮度非均匀性差两项核心指标,选择了10 组样品作为研究对象进行进一步分析.最后,通过人因实验探讨了上述两项核心光学指标与人眼感知之间的相关性.实验结果表明,单眼亮度非均匀性低于 20%,且双眼亮度非均匀性差不超过10%时,在使用5.46 英寸模拟近眼显示整机效果的专用检查机进行观测时,90%的受试者未能察觉有明显视觉差异.因此,本研究强调,在评估近眼显示设备用液晶显示屏的亮度非均匀性时,不应仅关注单眼的亮度非均匀性,还应综合考虑双眼亮度非均匀性差.此研究为液晶显示屏制造商与近眼显示设备整机厂制定科学的产品验收基准提供了技术支持,对于提升近眼显示设备的视觉体验具有重要的实践意义.
This study aims to investigate the impact of brightness non-uniformity in liquid crystal displays(LCDs)used in near-eye display devices on human visual perception.First,in accordance with the International Display Measurements Standard(IDMS),brightness non-uniformity was adopted as the core metric to test the non-uniformity of a batch of typical 5.46-inch LCDs for near-eye display devices from a development institute.Second,based on two core indicators—monocular brightness non-uniformity and binocular brightness non-uniformity difference—10 sets of samples were selected as research objects for further analysis.Finally,human factors experiments were conducted to explore the correlation between these two core optical indicators and human visual perception.The experimental results showed that when the monocular brightness non-uniformity is below 20%and the binocular brightness difference does not exceed 10%,90%of the participants failed to perceive any obvious visual difference when observing through a dedicated inspection machine that simulates the performance of a full 5.46-inch near-eye display device.Therefore,this paper emphasizes that when evaluating the brightness non-uniformity of LCDs for near-eye display devices,focus should not only be placed on monocular brightness non-uniformity,but the binocular brightness non-uniformity difference should also be comprehensively considered.This research provides technical support for LCD manufacturers and near-eye display device integrators to formulate scientific product acceptance benchmarks,which holds significance for enhancing the visual experience of near-eye display devices.
