Objective:This study aimed to examine the relationships of parental psychological control and harsh parent-ing with early adolescents' online trolling,to test the mediating roles of self-concept clarity and alexithymia,and to compare differences in the mediating mechanisms underlying these associations.Methods:A three-wave longitudinal survey was conducted among 1288 early adolescents using the Parental Psychological Control Scale,Harsh Parenting Scale,Self-Concept Clarity Scale,Alexithymia Scale,and Online Trolling Scale.Results:Both parental psychological control and harsh parenting were significantly positively associated with early adolescents' online trolling.Self-concept clarity and alexithymia showed significant independent andserial mediating effects in the associations of parental psychological control and harsh parenting with online trolling.Harsh parenting had a stronger effect on online trolling through alexithymia,whereas parental psychological control had a stronger effect through self-concept clarity.Conclusion:Both parental psy-chological control and harsh parenting are risk factors for early adolescents' online trolling.Parental psychological control mainly affects online trolling by reducing self-concept clarity,whereas harsh parenting mainly affects it by increasing alexi-thymia.
