How to Counteract AI Hallucinations?A Study on the Impact of AI Search Interaction Affordances on Hallucination Perception
[目的/意义]AI搜索逐步替代传统搜索引擎,在提升搜索效率的同时,也存在AI幻觉风险.幻觉感知降低采纳错误信息,有助于减轻AI幻觉风险.本文旨在从技术示能性视角出发,探究用户对AI搜索幻觉感知的前因及作用机制,为解决人智交互中的幻觉风险问题提供理论参考.[方法/过程]结合示能性理论与情感—认知信息处理模型,探究交互示能性对用户幻觉感知的影响.通过问卷收集共434份数据,采用PLS-SEM进行实证研究.[结果/结论]主动控制、双向交流、同步性与个性化均能显著提高感知诊断性,进而提高幻觉感知;同时还可以通过拉近心理距离,提高幻觉感知.AI素养在感知诊断性、心理距离与幻觉感知之间存在调节作用,高AI素养用户的幻觉感知更高,受感知诊断性与心理距离的影响更小.本研究结论可为AI搜索平台企业优化服务质量,以及相关管理部门完善信息生态治理提供对策与建议.
[Purpose/Significance]With the widespread application of generative artificial intelligence technologies,AI search engines are gradually replacing traditional search engines,improving search efficiency while also introducing the risk of AI hallucinations.Hallucinations can mislead user judgment,reduce trust,and unvalidated hallucinated informa-tion is more likely to be spread,leading to information pollution.Hallucination perception refers to users'subjective aware-ness of the potential for AI-generated hallucinations,which can reduce the adoption of misinformation and help mitigate the risk of AI hallucinations.Existing studies have primarily examined hallucination issues from technical or ethical per-spectives,with limited research on perceptual mechanisms from the user's perspective.This study aims to explore the ante-cedents and mechanisms of users'perception of AI search hallucinations from the perspective of technological affordance,providing theoretical insights for addressing hallucination risks in human-AI interactions.[Method/Process]Based on affor-dance theory,this study explained the interactive affordance of AI search from four dimensions:active control,bidirec-tional communication,synchronicity,and personalization.It combined the affective-cognitive information processing model to investigated the differential impact of these dimensions on users'AI hallucination perception,the role of percep-tion diagnosticity and psychological distance,and the moderating role of AI literacy.The survey targeted frequent users of AI search tools,with a total of 451 samples collected through the Wenjuanxing online platform.After removing 17 invalid responses,434 valid responses remained.PLS-SEM was used for empirical analysis,utilizing SmartPLS 4.1.1.4 soft-ware.[Result/Conclusion]The findings show that active control,bidirectional communication,synchronicity,and person-alization significantly enhance perception diagnosticity,which in turn increases hallucination perception.Additionally,reducing psychological distance also amplifies hallucination perception.AI literacy plays a moderating role between percep-tion diagnosticity,psychological distance,and hallucination perception,with users possessing higher AI literacy showing a stronger perception of hallucinations and being less influenced by perception diagnosticity and psychological distance.This study expands the theoretical understanding of interactive affordance in AI search contexts,enriching the cognitive and affective impacts of perception diagnosticity and psychological distance on hallucination perception.It also reveals how individual differences in AI literacy affect human-AI interactions.By combining affordance theory and the affective-cognitive information processing model,this research provides a novel theoretical lens for understanding hallucination per-ception in AI search contexts.The conclusions of this study provide valuable insights for AI search platform companies to improve their search services and offer recommendations for relevant authorities to enhance information ecosystem governance.
