Linggan Wuwei Jiangxin Decoction is a classical prescription for warming the lungs and resolving retained fluid,first re-corded in the Synopsis of the Golden Chamber by ZHANG Zhongjing of the Eastern Han Dynasty.It has been inherited,developed,and promoted by generations of physicians.In this study,bibliometric methods were employed to systematically collect and analyze relevant ancient and modern literature.The composition,botanical origins and processing methods of the constituent herbs,decoction and administration procedures,formulation principles,and ancient and modern clinical applications of Linggan Wuwei Jiangxin De-coction were systematically reviewed and critically examined.A total of 328 valid records from relevant ancient literature were col-lected,involving 20 traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)classics.Textual research demonstrated that the botanical origins of the constituent herbs recorded in ancient literature were generally clear.The key information regarding dosage,processing,and adminis-tration was as follows:Poria 55.2 g;Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma,Zingiberis Rhizoma,and Asari Radix et Rhizoma 41.4 g each;and Schisandrae Chinensis Fructus 51.3 g.The herbs were decocted with 1 600 mL of water and reduced to 600 mL.After removal of the residue,100 mL was taken warm per dose,three times daily,resulting in a total daily dosage of 300 mL.Linggan Wuwei Jian-gxin Decoction is a commonly used prescription for warming the lungs and resolving retained fluid.It is primarily used to treat symptoms caused by cold pathogens injuring the lungs,including expectoration with profuse sputum,thin and clear sputum,white sputum,frequent expectoration of saliva or frothy sputum,and chest fullness or discomfort.In modern clinical practice,it has been used for the treatment of various diseases,including chronic obstructive pulmonary disease,asthma,and bronchitis.The recommen-ded quality markers of Linggan Wuwei Jiangxin Decoction include 6-shogaol,6-gingerol,6-paradol,asarinin,sesamin,pachymic acid,schizandrol A,schizandrin B,liquiritin,and glycyrrhizic acid.
