视觉语法理论视角下《木兰辞》双语绘本的图文关系研究OA

Objective:Based on visual grammar theory and Martinec&Salway's image-text relational framework,this study ex-amines the picture-text interaction mechanisms in Zhang Songnan's bilingual picture book The Ballad of Mulan.The analysis re-veals that the picture book employs differentiated configurations of image dominance and image-text equality to construct histori-cal-cultural contexts and convey emotional nuances,respectively.Through functions such as extension,projection,and their combi-nation,it effectively supplements visual information for culture-specific terms,translates abstract emotional metaphors,and inte-grates historical facts with spiritual connotations.By combining parallel Chinese-English layout and visual metaphor strategies,the work balances cultural authenticity and reader accessibility.This study confirms that the picture-text synergy in bilingual picture books constitutes a cognitive negotiation process of multimodal signs.Its mechanism offers methodological insights for the multi-modal international communication of Chinese classics and provides a practical pathway for balancing"cultural fidelity"and"read-er-friendliness"in cross-cultural narratives.
