Bruno Latour's political ecology constructs an alternative analytical framework for ecological governance in the An-thropocene by critiquing modernity's subject-object dualism.His theory accomplishes an ontological shift from critiquing"Nature"to generating the"Terrestrial,"evolving through three phases:Nature → Gaia → Terrestrial.This trajectory reconceptualizes the Earth as a heterogeneous actor-network through Gaia theory,establishes the"Critical Zone"as the ontological foundation for eco-logical politics,and emphasizes symmetrical negotiation between human and non-human actors.The"association-agency-depen-dence"mechanism reveals ecological practice as a dynamic process of translation,shifting governance from technical management toward the reconfiguration of modes of existence.The theoretical framework exhibits three inherent tensions:the contradiction be-tween ontological equality and historical power structures,the conflict between dynamic generativity and institutional stability,and the disjuncture between global systemic dynamics and localized practices.Future research must integrate historical and spatial pathways,exploring institutional forms for multi-actor negotiation to realize the vision of an ecological community through"cos-mopolitics."
