Abrasion characteristics of Jurassic sandstone under saturated and mud-slurry coated conditions in Western China

针对西部地区侏罗系地层煤矿立井钻井法施工中出现的刀具磨损量异常与钻进效率低下问题,本文开展了弱胶结砂岩在干燥、水饱和、泥浆饱和等 3 种状态下 Cerchar 磨蚀试验及岩石物理力学特性试验.基于砂岩在不同状态下物理力学特性与磨蚀特性的变化规律,探究其磨蚀特性变化原因及其与刀具磨损的相关性.阐明刀具磨损量异常变化的原因,并探讨砂岩不同状态下的磨蚀率.结果表明:1)与干燥状态相比,砂岩经过水饱和、泥浆饱和处理后,内部胶结物质受到破坏,抗压、抗拉强度与里氏硬度出现不同程度的衰减;Cerchar 磨蚀性指数(CAI)在泥浆饱和状态下减少 9.62%,在水饱和状态下减少 19.23%;2)2 种饱和状态下,钢针在砂岩的贯入深度均值为1.05 mm,比干燥状态下的 0.6 mm有显著增加;由于砂岩内部结构受损,钢针在磨蚀过程中接触的颗粒更易脱落,产生的磨损量均小于干燥状态;受泥浆层的影响,钢针在泥浆饱和状态下的磨损量大于水饱和状态;3)砂岩在干燥状态下的磨蚀率约为水饱和状态的 1/10,泥浆饱和状态下的磨蚀率约为水饱和状态的 1/5.基于此,建议在实际工程中优化泥浆性能并加强钻头清理,以减轻刀具异常磨损.

To address the abnormal tool wear and low drilling efficiency in the construction of vertical wells in Jurassic coal mines in the western region,Cerchar abrasion tests were conducted on weakly cemented sandstone under three conditions:dry,saturated,and mud-saturated states.These experiments,alongside tests of the fundamental physical and mechanical properties of the rock,aimed to explore the correlations between changes in abrasion characteristics and tool wear,elucidating the reasons for abnormal tool wear and discussing abrasion efficiency under different conditions.The main findings are as follows:(1)Compared with the dry state,the internal cementitious materials of sandstone are compromised after water and mud saturation,resulting in varying degrees of strength and hardness reduction.The Cerchar Abrasivity Index(CAI)decreases by 9.62%in mud saturation and by 19.23%in saturation.(2)The penetration depth of the steel needle in sandstone under both saturated conditions ranges 1.05 mm,significantly higher than the 0.6 mm observed in the dry state.Due to internal structural damage,particles in contact with the needle are more prone to detachment,leading to lower wear than in the dry state.The wear in mud-saturated conditions exceeds that in saturated conditions.(3)The abrasion efficiency of sandstone in the dry state is only 1/10 that of the saturated state,while in mud-saturated conditions,it is approximately 1/5 of the saturated state.Based on these findings,it is recommended to optimize the mud-slurry properties and enhance the cleaning of the drill bit in practical engineering to mitigate abnormal tool wear.
