Eight members of the BxFAR gene family(BxFAR1-BxFAR8)were identified from the genome sequence of B.xylophi-lus.Physicochemical property analysis revealed that the eight BxFAR proteins differed in molecular weight(11.45-21.99 ku),isoelectric point(5.24-10.03),stability,and other characteristics.Among them,BxFAR5 was a hydrophobic pro-tein,while BxFAR8,BxFAR2,and BxFAR3 were unstable proteins.Maximum-likelihood phylogenetic tree of the BxFAR family showed that BxFARs shared high evolutionary similarity in protein motifs with FAR proteins from other nematode species.All eight BxFAR members were dominated by α-helices and random coils,while maintaining high structural con-sistency.Gene expression analysis across different developmental stages suggested that all Bx-far genes,except Bx-far5,were significantly expressed in the fourth-stage juveniles,which may be related to increased energy demand during this stage.Bx-far1,Bx-far2,Bx-far3,Bx-far7,and Bx-far8 were highly expressed in the third-stage juveniles,facilitating nutrient acquisition and suppression of plant immune responses within the host.Bx-far5 was significantly upregulated in dispersal third-stage juveniles(D3),indicating a close association with the diapause behavior of D3 larvae.In summary,the Bx-fars gene family exhibits differential expression profiles across different developmental stages of B.xylophilus dem-onstrated that these genes play important roles in the development and sex differentiation of the pine wood nematode.
