Sleep disorders are a global health issue.It is crucial to deeply study their mechanisms and develop effective in-tervention strategies.Animal models,with advantages such as strong controllability and the ability to conduct multi-level interven-tions,play an irreplaceable role in revealing the pathological mechanisms of sleep disorders and evaluating the effects of interven-tions.This article systematically reviews the construction principles,assessment methods,and application progress of animal sleep disorder models including insomnia,hypersomnia,rhythm disorders,and rapid eye movement sleep disorders,and discus-ses the limitations of current models and future research directions.
