"走X"构式的语义扩展和语义识解规律OACHSSCD

As a construction in Chinese,"Zou X(走X)"has diverse grammatical categories and semantic structure types.As far as grammat-ical categories are concerned,"Zou X(走X)"has many kinds of sub-constructions,i.e.,"Zou N(走N)","Zou V(走V)"and"Zou A(走A)",and it can be a free phrase,a set phrase or a composite word.As far as semantics are concerned,"Zou(走)"in"Zou X(走X)"can express vari-ous meanings involving movement,such as'move','leave','move forwards','appropriate','arrive',and so on.,as well as various meanings involving state change,such as'let out','develop/experience','change into'and so forth.Our corpus investigation and analysis based on cog-nitive grammar and construction grammar shows that"Zou X(走X)"has undergone a grammatical change from a phrase to a composite word as well as a semantic change from the meaning about movement to the meaning about state change.The cognitive mechanism of its semantic change is the compound metaphor[DEVELOPMENT OF THE SITUATION IS PLACE CHANGE/MOVEMENT]generated on the basis of the following two ontology metaphors:[STATE IS A PLACE]and[DEVELOPMENT OF THE SITUATION IS STATE CHANGE].Changes in syn-tactic-semantic environments lead to a regular semantic evolution in"走"evolving from'walk'to various meanings about movement such as'leave','deviate','arrive',etc.,and from various meanings about movement to preposition meanings including'from','by way of','to',etc.The stronger the structural analyzability of"走X"is,the stronger the semantic combinability(i.e.,deducibility)is;conversely,the weaker it is.
