Objective:To examine the relationships between existential distress,psychological resilience and to explore the mediating role of hope level in hemodialysis patients.Methods:A total of 212 hemodialysis patients from a tertiary grade A hospital completed the Existential Distress Scale for Hemodialysis Patients(EDSHD),Con-nor-Davidson Resilience Scale(CD-RISC),and Herth Hope Index(HHI).The bootstrap method was employed to test the mediating effect.Results:The total scores of EDSHD,CD-RISC,and HHI for hemodialysis patients were 37.0(26.0,46.0),(58.9±12.3),and 31.0(28.0,34.8),respectively.The total scores of EDSHD were negative-ly correlated with the total scores of CD-RISC and HHI(r=-0.36,-0.47,Ps＜0.001).The CD-RISC total scores were positively correlated with the HHI total scores(r=0.50,P＜0.001).The direct effect of psychological resilience on existential distress was-0.26(95%CI:-0.49--0.02).The indirect effect of psychological resili-ence on existential distress mediated by hope level was-0.26(95%CI:-0.44--0.13),accounting for50.1%of the total effect.Conclusion:Hemodialysis patients experience a moderate to high level of existential distress,and existential distress of hemodialysis patients is significantly correlated with psychological resilience and hope levels.
