Research on the Impact Mechanism of Polycentric Spatial Structure on Urban Carbon Neutrality:Perspectives of Technological Innovation and Land Use Conflicts

在绿色低碳转型与城镇化正从快速增长期转向稳定发展期的双重背景下,作为推动可持续发展的重要形态的多中心空间结构对碳中和的影响成为关键议题.利用2011-2023年中国281个城市面板数据,系统考察多中心空间结构对碳中和的影响效应.研究结果表明:第一,多中心空间结构对碳中和的影响呈现初期抑制、后期促进的U型作用关系;第二,技术创新与土地利用冲突在多中心空间结构对碳中和的影响中发挥中介作用;第三,多中心空间结构对碳中和的影响在低河流密度的城市、非沿海城市和中小城市中更为突出.因此,应分阶段推进多中心空间规划,强化技术创新与土地利用的协同整合,因地制宜制定差异化政策,以推动空间结构优化与碳中和目标的协同实现.

Against the dual backdrop of green and low-carbon transition and urbanization shifting from a period of rapid growth to stable development,the polycentric spatial structure,as a key form promoting sustainable development,has made its impact on carbon neutrality a critical issue.Using panel data from 281 cities in China from 2011 to 2023,this study systematically examines the effect of polycentric spatial structure on carbon neutrality.The findings are as below.First,the impact of polycentric spatial structure on carbon neutrality exhibits a U-shaped relationship,initially inhibiting and later promoting carbon neutrality.Second,technological innovation and land use conflicts play mediating roles in the relationship between polycentric spatial structure and carbon neutrality.Third,the impact of polycentric spatial structure on carbon neutrality is more pronounced in cities with low river density,non-coastal cities,and small to medium-sized cities.Therefore,it is essential to promote polycentric spatial planning in stages,strengthen the synergistic integration of technological innovation and land use,and formulate tailored policies based on local conditions to facilitate the coordinated realization of spatial structure optimization and carbon neutrality goals.
