The synergistic development and mutual empowerment between regional tourism resilience and resident well-being serve as a crucial pathway for promoting high-quality regional development.Utilizing panel data from 31 provinces in China spanning 2004 to 2023,this study empirically analyzes the spatio-temporal characteristics and driving factors of their relationship by employing a comprehensive methodology,including the composite index method,coupling coordina-tion degree model,obstacle degree model,and grey relational analysis.The results indicate that:1.During the study period,both regional tourism resilience and resident well-being in China showed a continuous upward trend,yet exhibited significant spatial imbalance,presenting a gradient distribution pattern of"high in the east and low in the west".2.The coupling coordination degree between regional tourism resilience and resident well-being has generally improved steadily,with its spatial pattern dynamically evolving from a high-value concentration in the east to a diffusion towards the central and western regions.3.At the internal structural level,economic resilience within tourism resilience constitutes the primary obstacle factor,while dimensions related to living environment and social equity impose prominent constraints on resident well-being.4.Regarding the external environment,tourism fiscal self-sufficiency rate,degree of tourism marketization,and socio-economic vitality demonstrate strong correlations with the coupling coordination degree,among which tourism fiscal revenue plays the most significant role in promoting their synergistic development.The findings provide important policy insights for enhancing the risk resistance of regional tourism systems and fostering coordinated,high-quality regional development.
