Reasons for linear defects on the surface of 42CrMo steel bolts
某海洋设备用12.9级镀锌螺栓在服役时,其表面有沿轴向分布的线性缺陷.采用宏观观察、化学成分分析、力学性能测试、扫描电镜及能谱分析、金相检验等方法对螺栓表面产生线性缺陷的原因进行分析.结果表明:螺栓的线性缺陷是生产螺栓棒料中存在的折叠缺陷,折叠内充满氧化物、两侧有脱碳现象;在螺栓生产过程中,没有将表面缺陷去除,导致其残留在螺栓表面,在之后的淬火冷却过程中,折叠尖端扩展,最终形成了较深的淬火裂纹.
The 12.9-grade galvanized bolts used in marine equipment were found to have linear defects distributed along the axial direction on their surfaces during service.Macroscopic observation,chemical composition analysis,mechanical property testing,scanning electron microscopy and energy spectrum analysis,and metallographic examination were employed to analyze the causes of the linear defects on the bolt surfaces.The results show that the linear defects in the bolts originated from folding defects in the bolt rod material during production.The folds were filled with oxides,with decarburization occurring on both sides.During the bolt manufacturing process,surface defects were not removed,leading to their retention on the bolt surfaces.Subsequently,during the quenching and cooling process,the fold tips expanded,ultimately forming deep quenching cracks.
