Based on the extensive application of the theory of"deficiency-induced Qi stagnation"in the pattern differentiation and treatment of internal miscellaneous diseases,this paper elucidates the pathological connotation of"deficiency-induced Qi stagnation"and discusses the specific application of the therapeutic method of"fortifying the root and unblocking stagnation"."Qi"here refers to Qi in its broad sense,encompassing the distinctions of Yin,Yang,and the five Zang organs."Deficient Qi"involves the partial deficiency of Yin or Yang and the impairment of the five Zang organs respectively.Pathological products such as phlegm-dampness and blood stasis accumulate and stagnate due to deficiency,which over time may give rise to the formation of turbidity,generation of toxins,and binding obstructions.Therefore,seven therapeutic methods are proposed under the principle of"fortifying the root and unblocking stagnation"for internal miscellaneous diseases,namely supplementing Qi to promote movement,warming Yang to resolve stagnation,nourishing Yin to moisten stagnation,resolving turbidity to disperse stagnation,removing toxins to clear stagnation,eliminating obstructions to dispel stagnation,and dispelling wind to scatter stagnation.Meanwhile,among the impairments of the five Zang organs,the spleen and kidney are prioritized;the manifestations of"deficient Qi"exhibit both deficiency and stirring signs simultaneously;and miscellaneous diseases vary in their detailed pathological changes.Hence,three key points of clinical application are distilled,namely placing equal emphasis on the spleen and kidney while balancing supplementation and purgation,regulating the liver and gallbladder to harmonize the middle Jiao,and adopting dynamic pattern differentiation with multi-method coordination.
