An Empirical Study on the Impact of Digital Transformation on the Manufacturing Industry

为了落实"双碳"目标的战略承诺,推动制造业数字化升级已成为一项重要任务.本研究以中国A股市场的制造业上市公司为分析对象,考察了企业数字化转型与其碳排放量之间的关系.实证分析发现,数字化转型能够显著减少企业的碳排放,这一结论在经过稳健性测试后依然成立.进一步的机制分析表明,数字化转型主要通过技术创新、生产效率及资产周转这三种不同的途径来对碳排放产生影响.其中技术创新发挥正向降碳作用,数字化转型通过提升研发投入助力企业减少碳排放;受回弹效应影响,数字化转型在提升生产效率后,短期内会间接增加碳排放;受规模扩张效应影响,数字化转型在提升资产周转率后,也会间接增加碳排放.正式环境规制与融资约束在二者关系及影响路径中发挥着差异化调节作用.同时异质性检验表明,数字化转型的碳减排效应在国有企业、小型企业、低人力密集型企业中更为突出.本研究成果为企业数字化转型战略制定、碳减排路径规划及相关政策完善提供了有价值的理论依据与实践参考,助力制造业企业更好实现数字化可持续发展.

To fulfill the strategic commitment to the"dual carbon"goals,promoting the digital upgrad-ing of the manufacturing sector has become a critical task.This study examines the relationship be-tween corporate digital transformation and carbon emissions,focusing on manufacturing companies listed on China's A-share market.Empirical analysis reveals that digital transformation significantly re-duces corporate carbon emissions,a conclusion that holds even after robustness tests.Further mecha-nism analysis indicates that digital transformation influences carbon emissions primarily through three distinct channels:technological innovation,production efficiency,and asset turnover.Specifically,technological innovation plays a positive role in reducing carbon emissions,as digital transformation helps companies cut emissions by increasing R&D investment;due to the rebound effect,digital trans-formation indirectly increases carbon emissions in the short term after improving production efficiency;and due to the scale expansion effect,digital transformation also indirectly increases carbon emissions after improving asset turnover.Formal environmental regulations and financing constraints play a mod-erating role in the relationship between the two and their impact pathways.At the same time,hetero-geneity tests indicate that the carbon reduction effects of digital transformation are more pronounced in state-owned enterprises,small enterprises,and low-labor-intensive enterprises.The findings of this study provide valuable theoretical foundations and practical references for enterprises in formulating digital transformation strategies,planning carbon reduction pathways,and refining relevant policies,thereby helping manufacturing enterprises better achieve digital sustainability.
