Liu Zhi is a renowned disciple of Yao Sui,the leading figure of the literary world in the Yuan Dynasty.He was proficient in poetry,prose,lyrics,and music.There are 69 of his extant poems,which can be broadly categorized into themes such as travel records,complementary and responsive verses,nostalgic reflections,inscriptions on paintings,and landscape de-pictions and etc."qing ba hong yan"(purity,vigor,grandeur,and uniqueness)are the prominent characteristics of his poetry creation."Qingba"(purity and vigor)refers to the freshness,elegance,and tragic grandeur of his poems."Hongyan"(grandeur and uniqueness)denotes the magnificent atmosphere,rich and magnificent language.The formation of his poetic style is the re-sult of the integration of retro and mixed literary styles after the unification of the Yuan Dynasty,and is also closely related to the pursuit of moral character and literary quality by the Yao School's literary scholars.
