张綖的一生坎坷不平而奋斗不止.少年立志从政为民,而八上春官不第;走入仕途后,受王阳明立圣人之志的影响,不被功名利禄所役,造福民众;而残酷的仕宦生态使其不时产生隐退思想,又始终不忘初心.张綖的行迹与心迹反映了封建社会有良知文人的生存状态,亦使其创作跳动着时代的脉搏而葆有永恒的生命力.
Zhang Yan led a life filled with hardships and frustrations yet strove unceasingly.Though aspiring to engage in politics and serve the people from an early age,he failed the imperial examination eight times.After entering officialdom,influ-enced by Wang Yangming's aspiration to attain sagehood,he refused to be enslaved by fame and fortune and dedicated himself to benefiting the common people.The harsh bureaucratic environment often stirred in his thoughts of seclusion,yet he never aban-doned his original aspiration.Zhang Yan's life experiences and inner reflections mirror the existential predicament of conscien-tious literati in feudal society,endowing his literary works with the rhythm of his era and enduring artistic vitality.
