On the Conferral of Rewards upon Women in the Han Dynasty
朝廷赏赐女性的行为在汉代较为常见.相关赏赐可分为实用物质类赏赐、精神荣誉类赏赐以及赐葬、赐酺、旌表贞妇等特殊类型赏赐.汉代女性相关赏赐与当时社会结构息息相关,因被赏赐者的身份不同而差异明显.汉代的女性赏赐在维系家庭秩序、推行教化、强化国家治理等方面发挥了一定作用.
The conferral of rewards upon women by the imperial court was a relatively common phenomenon during the Han Dynasty(202 B.C.-220 A.D.).Such practices may be categorized into material rewards for practical use,honorary and symbolic rewards,and special forms of reward,including the granting of funerary honors,cipu(imperially sponsored communal feasts),and the commendation of chaste women.Rewards related to women in the Han Dynasty were closely associated or intertwined with the social structure of the time and varied significantly according to the status and identity of the recipients.These rewards for women played an important role in maintaining family order,promoting moral education,and consolidating state governance.
