The study of the narrative of thingness in literary works focuses on the function and significance of"things"in narratives,elucidating how they become key forces in advancing plots,constructing characters,and developing themes.Chi-nese American writers often employ such narrative media as Chinese culinary narratives,narratives of Chinese objects,and"things of space"and"things of history"to explore the efforts made by Chinese American communities in their pursuit of preserving Chinese traditions,reconstructing collective memory,and achieving cultural identity within a cross-cultural con-text.These narratives of thingness,rich with Chinese characteristics,convey Chinese culture and spirit to mainstream socie-ty,playing a positive role in the cultural identity construction of Chinese American communities and the overseas dissemina-tion of Chinese culture.
