Ayurvedic Theory of Five Great Elements and Tridos.a Accompanied by A Comparative Study with the Basic Theory of Traditional Chinese Medicine
Similar to traditional Chinese medicine(TCM),Indian Ayurvedic medicine also has a long history spanning thousands of years. Its theoretical core comprises theories of the five great elements(pañcamahābhūta)and tridos.a.A detailed,in-depth exploration of these two major doctrines is conducted, drawing on relevant domestic and international literature. In this process, the Chinese translations of core terminologies within the theoretical framework are redefined according to their original Sanskrit meanings.Building upon this foundation,a comparative analysis is undertaken with fundamental TCM theories, especially the five-phases theory. It is discovered that although the two major medical theo-retical systems differ, their fundamental concepts exhibit striking similarities, thereby establishing the theoretical possi-bility for cross-cultural dialogue and mutual learning between them.
