The mitogen-activated protein kinase(MAPK)pathway is a key signaling pathway that regulates cell growth,differentia-tion,and apoptosis,and it is closely related to the occurrence and development of renal cancer,making it an important potential target for renal cancer therapy.Traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)can target and regulate the MAPK pathway and its interaction network,showing definite efficacy in reducing postoperative recurrence and metastasis of renal cancer and alleviating adverse reactions.Studies have shown that active components of TCM such as alkaloids,terpenoids,and phenolics,as well as extracts from herbs like Herba Sieg-esbeckiae and Hedyotis diffusa,can exert anti-renal cancer effects by regulating this pathway.Their mechanisms mainly involve indu-cing autophagy and apoptosis,promoting necroptosis,blocking epithelial-mesenchymal transition,inhibiting angiogenesis,reversing drug resistance,and arresting the cell cycle,thereby inhibiting renal cancer progression through multiple pathways.However,existing re-search still has deficiencies:mechanism studies focus more on autophagy and apoptosis,with insufficient attention to angiogenesis and necroptosis;research on TCM active components emphasizes alkaloids,terpenoids,and phenolics,with fewer studies on quinones and an-hydrides;studies on the mechanisms of multi-component TCM formulas are relatively weak;most research remains at the cell and ani-mal experiment stages,lacking clinical data support;systematic exploration of TCM combined with chemotherapy,immunotherapy,and targeted therapy is lacking.Future research should deepen the understanding of MAPK pathway regulation in renal cancer of different pathological types and stages,expand the range of active components,strengthen studies on formula mechanisms,integrate modern tech-nologies to elucidate multi-component synergy and combination-enhancing mechanisms,promote the development of anti-renal cancer TCM,and realize the value of TCM in comprehensive treatment of renal cancer.
