Bridging science and global goals:The UN endorsement of China’s Green Carbon ProgrammeOA

As the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development enters its final crucial decade[1],uneven progress has become an unavoidable reality.“only 17%of the SDG targets are on track,nearly half showing minimal or moderate progress,and over one-third are stalled or regressing”[2].The challenges are particularly acute in the foundational areas of climate action(SDG 13)and affordable clean energy(SDG 7),where progress in regions like Asia and the Pacific has even witnessed an"alarming reversal"[3].In this context,the United Nations Educational,Scientific and Cultural Organization(UNESCO)launched the International Decade of Sciences for Sustainable Development(Science Decade,2024–2033),aiming to promote global scientific collaboration to bridge the gap between scientific knowledge and actionable Sustainable Development Goals(SDGs)progress[4].This objective perfectly aligns with China’s Green Carbon Programme.
