Exploring how artificial intelligence empowers cultural and tourism integration can provide a practical reference for promoting high-quality development of the cultural and tourism industry and serving national strategic needs.This paper se-lects the panel data of 31 provinces in China from 2011 to 2024 as the research sample and uses multiple econometric models to examine the mechanism and spatial effect of artificial intelligence empowering the integration of culture and tourism.The results show that artificial intelligence can significantly promote the integration of culture and tourism,and that this conclusion still holds after a series of robustness and endogeneity tests.The results of heterogeneity analysis show that artificial intelligence has a better empowering effect on the integration of culture and tourism in state-owned enterprises and in the eastern regions.The test results of the mediation effect indicate that artificial intelligence can empower the integration of culture and tourism through industrial op-timization and technological innovation.Spatial effect analysis shows that artificial intelligence has significant positive spatial spillover effects on the integration of culture and tourism.Therefore,it is necessary to strengthen the economic foundation,in-crease industrial intelligence investment,reduce regional cultural and tourism gaps,leverage the resource advantages of state-owned enterprises to build industrial clusters in eastern regions,strengthen intelligent transformation in central and western regions,implement differentiated development strategies,strengthen interregional cooperation and exchange,and achieve coordi-nated regional progress.
