Objective To investigate the correlation between the occurrence of ulcerative colitis(UC)and traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)constitution through a Meta-analysis,aiming to clarify the distribution patterns of TCM constitu-tion in UC patients and provide evidence-based support for the treatment of UC from the perspective of TCM constitution dif-ferentiation.Methods A comprehensive search was conducted in databases including CNKI,Wanfang,VIP,PubMed,Em-base,and Chinese Medical Journal from their inception to January 13,2025,for clinical studies evaluating the correlation be-tween UC and TCM constitution types.The retrieved literature was screened using systematic review methods,and a single-rate Meta-analysis was performed using Stata 17 software.Results were expressed as distribution rates,odds ratios(ORs),and their 95%confidence intervals(CIs).Results A total of 13 studies involving,1458 patients were included.The pre-dominant TCM constitutions in UC patients were damp-heat constitution(19%),qi-deficiency constitution(15%),yang-deficiency constitution(15%),phlegm-dampness constitution(15%),qi-stagnation constitution(12%),and balanced con-stitution(12%).ConclusionDamp-heat,qi-deficiency,yang-deficiency,qi-stagnation,and phlegm-dampness constitutions are risk factors for UC,while the balanced constitution is a protective factor.No statistically significant differences were ob-served for blood-stasis and yin-deficiency constitutions.In conclusion,damp-heat,qi-deficiency,yang-deficiency,qi-stagna-tion,phlegm-dampness,and balanced constitutions are the primary TCM constitution types in UC patients,showing signifi-cant differences compared to the general population.This could provide a potential therapeutic target for ulcerative colitis by modulating the patient's constitutional characteristics.
