Chronic kidney disease(CKD)is a clinical syndrome characterized by abnormalities in kidney structure or function persisting for≥3 months due to various etiologies.It features an insidious onset,prolonged course and poor progno-sis,ultimately progressing to end-stage renal disease(ESRD).Treatment options for ESRD are limited,primarily relying on renal replacement therapy(including kidney transplantation,hemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis),which imposes sig-nificant suffering on patients and a heavy burden on families and society.With the acceleration of population aging,the global prevalence of CKD continues to rise,and its associated mortality rate is increasing annually in cause-of-death rank-ings.In China,CKD is predominantly in its early stages,and standardized treatment can effectively delay disease progres-sion and improve patient prognosis.Professor He Zeyun has long been dedicated to the clinical and scientific research of CKD.He posits that the main pathogenesis of CKD involves deficiency and impairment of the spleen and kidney,dysfunc-tion of the triple energizer Qi-transformation,and disturbance in water metabolism.Lingering dampness-turbidity,if unre-solved,becomes stagnant and transforms into heat.This heat pathogen then combines with tangible pathogens in the kidney collaterals,forming concretions and accumulations(zheng jia),leading to impeded Qi and blood circulation and the accu-mulation of pathological products into toxins.Therapeutically,he employs self-formulated Guiqi Dongshen Pills combined with acupoint application.This approach simultaneously warms the kidney,fortifies the spleen,supplements the lung,drains dampness,resolves stasis and removes toxins.Thereby,it tonifies the lung,spleen,and kidney concurrently and drains dampness,stasis and toxins simultaneously,achieving the goal of treating CKD.
