Against the backdrop of increasingly complex international dynamics and geopolitical entan-glements,the international communication of a nation's frontier image has emerged as a crucial dimen-sion in the construction of its soft power.This paper explores innovative pathways for communicating Chi-na's frontier image in the new era through a case study of the"China-Nepal Railway and South Asia Ex-change"WeChat public account and cross-border,non-governmental academic exchanges.By analyzing the theoretical distinctions between"external communication"and"international communication",this study demonstrates the paradigm shift in frontier narratives-from"external publicity"to"academic ex-change"—as shaped by scholarly engagement.Strategies centered on interactive narrative,communica-tion-oriented dialogue,and technology-enabled dissemination offer effective means to counter cognitive biases shaped by hegemonic Western discourse and to construct a more nuanced image of both the Chi-nese nation and its frontier regions.Scholars engaged in non-governmental exchanges play an irreplacea-ble role in the communication of frontier subjectivity.Such academic exchanges should be systematically strengthened through four dimensions:the development of dialogue platforms,the co-construction of knowledge systems,the cultivation of early-career scholars,and cross-border collaborative research.These efforts aim to provide a reference framework for the international communication of China's frontier regions.
