The Theoretical System of Mind-Nature in the Thought of the Zang's Buddhist Philosopher Longchenpa
本文以藏传佛教宁玛派高僧龙钦巴的心学理论体系为核心,系统阐述了其心学思想的根源、内涵及其特性.龙钦巴的心学理论根植于印度佛教尤其是印度佛教密宗心学传统,并吸收了汉地禅宗的顿悟思想.其理论体系围绕"本心"这一核心概念构建,提出了若干异名同质的范畴,如"心性""心真如""菩提心""如来藏"等,这些就是人之本心.龙钦巴认为本心先天纯净、广大虚空,且是不生不灭的真常本体及一切善念的源泉,与此对立的"习心"则是后天被污染的产物.在本体论上,龙钦巴认为心性或如来藏的空明本体是"内证智智境",并非创生世界的本原.其认识论强调本心的"灵明觉性"具有观照万物的"观慧".其实践论主张"无修而修"与"离分别言诠",具体通过对治"习心"的六种修行及大圆满法门中的"且却"(彻却)、"妥噶"(托噶)修持,以觉悟清净的"本心".最终,通过修行和累积福慧资粮,可趋向"成佛"这一高尚人格的终极目标.
This study centers on the theoretical system of mind-nature as articulated by Longchenpa,a preeminent scholar of the Nyingma school of Zang's Buddhism,and systematically examines the origins and connotations of his thought on mind-nature.It points out that Longchenpa's theory of mind-nature is rooted in Indian Buddhism,particularly the mind-nature tradition of Indian Buddhist tantra,while also incorporating elements of sudden enlightenment thought from Chinese Chan Buddhism.His theoretical system is constructed around the core concept of the"original mind",proposing a series of synonymous but distinct categories-such as"mind-nature","the tathāgatagarbha","the mind as suchness",and"bodhicitta"—all of which refer to the original mind of the individual.In his exploration of the nature of the original mind,Longchenpa posits that it is innately pure,vast and empty,an eternal,unchanging primordial essence,and the source of all virtuous thoughts.In contrast,the"habitual mind",is a prod-uct of post-natal defilement.Ontologically,Longchenpa holds that mind-nature or the tathāgatagarbha,as the luminous and empty essence,constitutes the"sphere of self-cognizant primordial wisdom"and is not the creative source of the phenomenal world.His epistemology emphasizes that the"innately aware,luminous cognition"of the original mind possesses a"discriminating wisdom"that perceives all phenome-na.In terms of praxis,Longchenpa advocates for"cultivation without cultivation"and"transcending conceptual elaboration and verbal expression,"specifically through six antidotal practices aimed at count-ering the habitual mind,as well as the"Cutting Through"and"Direct Transcendence"methods of the Great Perfection,in order to realize the purified original mind.Ultimately,through sustained practice and the accumulation of merit and wisdom,all sentient beings may approach"buddhahood",the ultimate realization of an exalted state of being.
