Xiaochaihu decoction comes from the Treatise on Febrile Diseases Caused by Cold,and is mainly used to treat typhoid shaoyang syndrome.Han Xuejie,a veteran Chinese medicine practitioner,innovatively follows the reconciliation method of the original prescription,and creates modified Xiaochaihu decoction with four fundamental Chinese medicinal herbs of Chinese thorowax root,baical skullcap root,debark peony root and finger citron.The prescription is informative in theory,broad in application scope and remarkable in clinical outcomes.This paper sorts out Han Xuejie's experience in formulating and applying modified Xiaochaihu decoction,and summarizes the methods and the main points of modifying the formula according to syndromes,symptoms and diseases,with an experimental case attached,in order to provide new ideas and references for the clinical application of Xiaochaihu decoction and other classic formulas.
