Cytological examination of postoperative thoracoabdominal drainage fluid serves as one of the key monitoring methods for surgical complications.It plays an irreplaceable role in determining the nature of the drainage fluid,and in the early identification and differentiation of postoperative complications such as anastomotic leakage/fistula,infection,and hemorrhage,thereby providing critical evidence for the precise adjustment of clinical treatment strategies.This article focuses on postoperative thoracoabdominal drainage fluid,systematically outlining the clinical objectives of cytological examination,standardized procedures for specimen collection and transportation,detailed laboratory testing protocols and quality control points,as well as the clinical interpretation and significance of various cytological findings.It aims to promote the standardization and normalization of this examination procedure,ultimately enhancing the diagnostic efficacy and clinical value of cytomorphological examination of drainage fluid in postoperative management.
