Cross-Cultural Communication Pathways for Museums from a Gamification Perspective

Digitalization and globalization are shifting museum communication from static display toward dynamic interaction and co-creation.As a representative work that fuses traditional culture with digital storytelling,Black Myth:Wukong demonstrates the potential of gamification in cross-cultural communication. Its immersive narrative—enabled by multisensory engagement and role-based experience—helps dissolve the boundary of the"cultural Other"and facilitates the internalization of cultural understanding. The collaboration between the Dunhuang Academy and Honor of Kings further reveals mechanisms of symbolic re-creation in digital contexts, through which cultural symbols acquire new meanings via visual reconstruction and interactive generation.Drawing on Bhabha's"Third Space"theory, museums can learn from gamified thinking to build open spaces of cultural negotiation through interactive platforms, community co-creation,and multicultural adaptation. The application of AIGC technologies and the establishment of communication evaluation frameworks will further expand the innovative potential of gamified narratives, enabling museums to cultivate a more inclusive and sustainable communication ecology in a global context.
