Background Currently, the next-generation industrial systems have attracted a lot of attention, which has raised a new round of innovation in various areas, including smart manufacturing, transportation, and the petrochemical industry, etc. Industry 5.0 aims to promote sustainable, human-centric industrialization and further the digitalization and intelligence of industrial production. As the core foundation of various industrial fields, the next generation industrial control systems will be evolved towards 6G communication, endogenous intelligent control, and large-scale digital twin deployment. Different from traditional industrial cyber threats, attacks in next-generation industrial systems can lead to more severe consequences. These novel vulnerabilities create a vast attack surface, covering both cyber and physical attack vectors.
